NEUROMODULATORS

(BOTOX®, DYSPORT®)

Although the aging process is inevitable, fortunately there are ways to reverse the signs of aging without extensive surgery or a long recovery period. These small steps include Neuromodulators. Younger clientele can benefit from starting neuromodualtor treatment for prevention of wrinkles related to aging while mature clients can benefit from the softening of deep set lines and wrinkles!

Beauty Lab also provides Botox services for medical conditions including Migraines, Bruixism (clenching/grinding of teeth) and Hyperhydrosis (excessive sweating) in armpits.

Frequently asked questions

1) What is a Neuromodulator?

Botox, Dysport and Xeomin Cosmetic all belong to a class of drugs known as neuromodulators. They all originate from protein molecules knows as Botulinium Neurotoxin.

2) How does it work?

It works by injecting a tiny needle into underlying muscles of the forehead, eyebrows and eyes commonly. This injection causes a temporary block of nerve messages to the targeted muscles. If that muscle isn’t able to contract to its full ability it cannot cause the skin to crease thereby resulting in softening of lines and wrinkles. Existing expression lines are smoothed out and, in most cases, are nearly invisible in 2 weeks.

3) What to expect:

After the Neuromodulator is injected into the targeted muscle, the weakening effect gradually begins over 3-5 days and continues for 2 weeks. The effect usually last 3-4 months, at which time another treatment is required. After several treatments, the effects often begin to last longer - "repeated use is truly anti-aging!" As the treatment only relaxes the muscle beneath the line at the injection site, it has no effect on other elements of facial expression. It also has no effect on the sensory nerves, allowing for normal feeling in the treated areas.

6) What are the side effects?

Botox® Cosmetic has been used safely by millions for over 18 years. There is no permanent side effect known with Botox® Cosmetic therapy for facial wrinkles. Temporary side effects may include slight bruising at the injection site; eyebrow or eyelid droop (seen in 1-2% of patients receiving Botox® Cosmetic therapy).

7) Is treatment with Neuromodulators painful?

Discomfort is usually minimal and brief. Prior to injecting, the physician or nurse may choose to numb the area with a cold pack or anesthetic cream. The entire procedure takes approximately 15 minutes.

5) How long will it last?

On average results will last for 3-4 months. Beauty Lab places great emphasis on your 2-week follow up to ensure all targeted muscles were addressed appropriately. A good indication of when to return for treatment is when treated muscles begin to become more active. Upkeep of regular treatments will reduce the amount of units required and increased longevity of results.

4) How much will I need?

Each individual is different in their muscle strength and metabolism therefore longevity of results and dosing will differ from person to person. A complimentary consultation will determine how many units you will require to achieve your desired results. The amount of muscle relaxation can be adjusted based on dosing determined at the clinic.
